1.1. How do I install the PureCM Server (purecm-daemon) on Ubuntu?

You first need to download the debian package for the server and install it as root. Check the server does not have any unresolved dependencies by running:

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/purecm-server/lib

    ldd /opt/purecm-server/bin/purecm-daemon

You may need to install python by running:

    apt-get install python2.4

After you have installed the server you need to run

    sudo /etc/init.d/purecm-server start

To verify the service is started you can run:

    ps ax | grep purecm

You should see a purecm-daemon process. The service runs as user 'purecm' which has been created as part of the server install.

After installing the client debian package you can register the server with user 'admin' and password 'secret':

pcm server register localhost admin 2010 --password=""

Check the client can connect to the server by running:

    pcm info

Check that you can see the 'Example'  repository when you run:

    pcm repos list

Any server errors are written to:

    /var/log/daemon.log
